My name is Gonzalo Bilune, though almost everyone calls me Bilu. I live in Buenos Aires. I am Head of Engineering at Aerolab, a product agency, and I lead the engineering teams that build digital products for clients in several countries. Before that I spent years on the other side, inside product companies.
My days split between two things I would rather keep together. One is technical: frontend architecture, microfrontends, design engineering, arguing about whether what we are shipping is actually well built. The other is about people: how each person grows, what feedback works for whom, how a team keeps up the pace without burning out. It took me a long time to understand that both are the same job.
At Mercado Libre, Ualá and Pomelo I learned how fintech works up close: high-volume marketplaces, digital banking, card issuing, and the healthy paranoia that shows up when the thing you break is somebody else’s money. Aerolab is a different kind of hard. Many contexts at once, clients who expect something concrete, and teams that have to understand an unfamiliar business fast and ship well anyway.
I publish notes here about engineering leadership, people management, metrics, frontend architecture and how teams are folding AI into their daily work. I write in Spanish and translate whatever might be useful to more people. Most of it comes from something that happened at work and that I only understood much later, usually after getting it wrong first.
